A more mainstream drama?

The Hollywood Reporter brings us news that Fox execs are busy working out the kinks in their Spring schedule. The article offered up this tidbit…

The two-hour backdoor sci-fi pilot “Virtuality,” might stay in consideration for May and be reworked as a more mainstream drama.

We could see the pilot as early as May? Hooray! It may be reworked as a “more mainstream drama”? Boo! After being spoiled by BSG and actual good storytelling, I’m convinced that nothing will ruin this new show faster than a room full of execs dumbing it down for a larger audience. Stay tuned.

Let’s face it, they probably got over their dizzy spell and back to Fox reality – GAY characters? Portrayed as REAL PEOPLE? What the hell were we thinking?!

When they talk about it staying under consideration for May, what they meant was keeping the pilot alive for possible consideration during the May Upfronts – the event when they plan/announce broadcasting for the 2009-2010 season. 🙂

It’s a shame this show is running into such roadblocks. I’ve talked to one of the women who composed the sound score for the pilot and she said it was brilliant and full of hotties! 😀
